This edition stems from Quinn's ongoing studies related to transgenic plant-life, flowers and fruits.
His 2008 flower sculpture series ‘The Nurseries of El Dorado’ consisted of an exotic aray of plants cast in bronze, which bore the flowers, fruits and vegetables from far off climates and eco systems, hybridising them into one magical species.
'Winter World' stands alone, an orchid cast in bronze and painted with white glossy paint, as if it grew in climate far removed from where it belongs in the same nature as Marc's window installation at Selfridge's 'Blizzard of Desire'.
